The FREEBORD has been designed to be the closest thing to snowboarding that you can do when there is no snow around. It has been carefully and skillfully designed so that it performs and reacts just like a snowboard but on tarmac!
The deck is very similar to a skateboard but much larger.
Bindings
The freebord bindings are very different to a snowboard binding to make them safer on tarmac, they do not lock your feet to the board but they do give you a whole lot more control compared to a standard longboard. They are called the S2 bindings, fully adjustable to suit both your shoes and your style but still allowing you to leave the board when ever you think you might bail!
They are designed to give you the confidence you have to do edge to the edge turns you love to do on your snowboard and also, thankfully, increase your stopping power by allowing you to put more pressure onto your edge when you want to stop in a slide.
Trucks & Wheels
The ‘edging system’ is very cleverly put together with an awesome combo of some sick trucks and 6 wheels.
First of all, there are 4 normal, fixed direction wheels that sit where they normally would on a skateboard but just on a longer truck. These are what you use to carve and putting pressure onto these wheels is like putting pressure onto an edge on a snowboard.
The freebord also has 2 more wheels that sit centrally and can be rotated through 360 degrees. These effectively simulate the base of a snowboard and are slightly proud of the other wheels allowing you to switch between edges (rock from wheel to wheel) just like linked turns.
And just incase you weren’t sure… It’s Freebord, not Freeboard, Frebord or Freebored!
