Analog Transpose 4 Rideable Fleece

Still going strong in it’s forth year, the Analog Transpose 4 is back and ready to ride. There’s not much room for improvement on perfection but a few cheeky tweaks never hurt anyone. It’s still rocking the Team Fit, an oversized street look, a water resistant finish and an extra soft anti-bacterial lining, no chaffing or washing, perfect. The only real major tweak has to be the thumbholes which A: Keeps your hands a bit warmer, B: Stops you losing your gloves, C: Stops snow getting into your gloves and D: Stops the really irritating arm bunching when you’re trying to get an extra layer on, Michelin men we are not! One of my favourite features of the Analog Transpose 4 is still the left arm pocket if you do nothing else, make sure your lift-pass goes in there! It saves you doing the embarrassing lift-pass dance at the gate and holding everyone up, just a ninja arm sweep and you’re in. The audio pocket is still located over the heart with its handy chunky zip pull for even the hugest of gloves and of course, there’s enough room to fit a boom-box in there not just your iPod! The guy’s at AG have also rolled out some hot new colours for the 2012 season; Infrared which is a vivid, vibrant fire engine red as opposed to the tame Cardinal Red of last season. Teal, a kind of ‘not blue but not green’ that is fast becoming this season’s favourite. Military Olive for the more conservative of us, and it doesn’t show dirt easily! Bonus. Stratus Blue, again a bright rich azure blue not for the faint hearted. No collection would be complete without the classic snowboard wardrobe staple, True Black, stealth. So there really is an Analog Transpose 4 Fleece for everyone! Don’t take my word for it, click here to see more: Analog Transpose

Nick’s Review of the 2012 Never Summer Evo

The low down…

Okay, So I hear we’re getting the new Never Summer boards in to test at Born Extreme. Already I’m excited about the EVO, the graphics look sick and the tech blurb sounds impressive, couple that with currently owning a pair of Danny Kass Union LTD’s inflocked purple and I have everything I need to look pimped and kill it on the slopes. I’ve been riding the board now for a few weeks and absolutely love it, below is mytake on it: -

My Setup…

Snowboard – 11/12 Never Summer Evo 153

Bindings – 10/11 Union Danny Kass Limited M/L

Boots – 10/11 32 Ultralight Size UK 9

Stance – +15/-15 Regular @ 24″

The Ride…

Playful is the only way to describe this wonderful board, I often find boards canbecome boring with always having to put the upmost effort in to get the best out of it. Luckily, that’s not the case with the EVO, The EVO is a very light board and boasts bucket loads of pop, I get so much air andtime to grab anywhere on the board so a massive thumbs up in this area. I also don’t have to put as much effort in as I would with a standard reverse camber board but that’s the joy of Never Summers RC technology (see The Tech below). Plenty of flex make for great flat land tricks, wonderful buttery fun and press heaven. The blunted tips do wonders for spins and you can do flat 180 and 360’s effortlessly.
Switching from edge to edge was quick and sharp on both slow and medium carves,be careful on those long fast carves though as the board can washout (embarrassingwhen showing someone how to crouch down and hang 5 while grabbing the edge on a fast, sharp corner, doh!). This isn’t a problem for me as I don’t tend to be flying around pulling massive carves although if that’s your thing go take the Proto CT for a blast as that offers added stability over the EVO (we have a demo available at Born Extreme).

Kicker wise this board felt fine to me, took off well and was stable enough in air andupon landing although I haven’t hit anything too big yet.

The Tech…

The rocker camber technology (rocker between the feet with positive camber outsideof the bindings) and dampening on this new EVO coupled with the mad flex helped create a wonderful fun riding experience.

To sum things up…

For me Never Summer’s new EVO is for the true freestyle rider, someone that loves the park and having fun all over the slopes, I had this board to test from Andy @Bornextreme, I can tell you one thing it definitely got lost in transit, and I won’t be riding it every week for the foreseeable future ;o). I know a few people have already heard me say this but the EVO really is like bunking off school to hook up with a busty blonde, A whole lot of naughty fun! Go order one now!

2012 Never Summer Snowboard Demo

A couple of weeks ago we received our 2011 Demo Never Summer boards. So naturally, we took them down the dome to give them a good demo! We all had a go and got as many other people as we could to give them a try (when we were willing to give them up for 5 minutes :P ). Check out the picture below – left to right we have the – Pandora, Evo, Proto CT and last but not least the SL :

2011 Never Summer Snowboards

Here is a little review on each board tying everyones thoughts together.

Pandora:

The Never Summer Pandora is the girls version of the Evo. We were riding the 148 version. A few different levels of rider had a go and the general opinion was that it was loads of fun and really easy to ride. It has Rocker Camber like all the Never Summer boards and seems to be really slight (as if it is hardly even there!). This could be because it is quite a narrow board. It was perfect for the dome. Here is quote from one of the ladies that rode it:

“ Just wanted to say thanks for the opportunity to ride the never summer pandora last night. Even though I’m not that experienced a rider yet I did things on that board I didn’t think I could do. I’ve done the kicker on my board a few times but always felt a bit awkward but on the pandora it was so much easier I was so proud of myself and didn’t bail once ;) I also carved like I never have before I think that was due to how light and easy to ride the board is even my son was impressed, and a 40 something mum impressing a teenage son ain’t easy believe me.

I really loved the board and will be putting my order in shortly. They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks haha well the pandora taught me some :)

Thanks again and if the demo board goes missing I honestly haven’t got her ;)

Evo:

As you can see above everyone has got big love for the Pandora… Being a bit taller (and heavier) I had a go on the 152 Never Summer Evo…

I am fairly new to snowboarding myself but have instantly fell in love with it. I had a good go on the Evo and now I really want one. I usually spend most the time on my backside at the dome but I found this so easy to ride. This gave me loads more confidence and meant I was up for having a bit of a go at stuff I wouldn’t usually dare… I did my first few jibs (succesfully :D ) and also landed a few 180s. The board is really forgiving but also so poppy and fun to ride!

Proto CT:

Andy rode this board back at the start of the year on the French Board Test – to see his blog post from back then click here:  2012 NEVER SUMMER PROTO CT

Nick also gave it a good test and will be writing about this soon…
